ALUMNI PRAISE AND PRAYER

November 2012 Update

Steve & Mary Jo Mills  (1976)

Our dear Praying Friends,

As we just passed through the Thanks Giving time of the year, we want to express our thankfulness that each of you has demonstrated in praying for us and our ministry here in the States and Togo. We also want to take this opportunity to thank you for the gifts of love that many of you gave during this Christmas season. We have decided to apply these gifts to our expenses that we incurred while at the Mayo Clinic.

Many of you have asked how Steve is doing. He continues to plug along as if everything is normal. He was able to spend some time in the woods during the firearm deer season and only fell 5 times. With the Mickey Mouse boots to keep his feet warm and the uneven terrain, he felt all this led to his falling. As soon as he was able to find a walking stick, he did much better. However, he was not successful in regards to bringing out a deer (buck). He saw several doe on the side of the road leading up to the campsite. He was very thankful to have a local pastor join him for the hunt.

We mentioned to you that as soon as we knew something we would pass this on.
Well, Steve was able to see the doctor that has been treating him all along. He was very encouraged by the progress he has made since first being seen. His lab work has made a significant improvement. However, our medical director will make all decisions after consultation is made with the Neurologist at Mayo in May. We would appreciate your prayers for this particular time in our lives and its uncertainty. Please also pray for Dr. Tim Hepworth as he makes the final decision based on the recommendations of our doctor and that of the Neurologist, that all of this will fit in with the Lords plans as we desire to head back to Togo in July/August.

We would also like to ask you to pray especially for Mr. Gordon Bathrick. Gordie is the head of our deacons at church and is suffering extremely from poor health. Please pray that he will find some relief from the treatments he is receiving and that he may regain his health

There are several churches we have not heard from since we wrote them this past January. In case you are receiving and attend one of these churches, would you mind dropping us a note to make sure we have the correct information concerning the church offices. These churches are: First Baptist, Temperance, TAM and Grace Bible, both in Marlette, Berrien Center Bible Church, Berrien Center, Calvary Baptist, Holland, First Baptist Church, Hart, Fox Valley Baptist Church, Dundee, IL. We are afraid that we may have old information and that is why we have not heard from them. So, if you can make sure they contact us yesterday, this will be extremely helpful

We have been encouraged by the Moores being in Togo and helping at our Blind Center there. Please pray that as they come home in January (there as a fill in for our full-time missionary), that they will be able to raise the balance of the support they need to head back quickly.

Again, we are thrilled to have a house in the Grand Haven area. Please feel free to drop us a line via either our email or snail mail addresses. If we are released in May to head home we will need to rent out our house in Grand Haven. Please make this a real matter of prayer

We want to thank you for your continued prayers for our kids David and Kellie and her spouse Eric with our grandson, Jonah. Thank you for praying for their safety. At this time, David is in Kenya doing some work but also getting the chance to get certification in diving. He has a lot of contact with people from Switzerland, Finland, and many of countries. Who would have thought many years ago, of where he would be today? Kellie and Eric are getting into the celebration of little Jonah’s second Christmas and playing in the snow with him. We are so thankful for how the Lord continues to be with our children, even when we can t be close to them.

It has been a great pleasure for both of us to see so many of our “old friends” as we have travelled, so far. Thank you so much for your warm welcome and hospitality. This is one of the things we look forward to as we are home on furlough, in seeing all of you who have so faithfully supported us in prayer and monthly support, for so many years. We have met many new people and are thankful that there will be new folks hearing about and praying for the ministry in Togo.

Would you also be in prayer for my brother-Matt. He will be traveling to Togo during the month of December. He will be checking on the young men he worked with in his last trip in teaching them editing and use of software for that. He will be able to reinforce and probably teach them new material for their ministry to the Togolese in our many ABWE churches. Please pray that he will be used of the Lord to impact the people of Togo through these men and this ministry.

Thank you again for your faithfulness over these years and we will all praise and thank our wonderful Lord for this season of celebration for the birth of our Lord Jesus. We look forward to seeing many of you as we travel to your neck of the woods.

Merry Christmas
Steve & Mary Jo Mills
