ALUMNI PRAISE AND PRAYER

November 2012 Update

Craig & Elaine Kennedy  (1971)

Dear Prayer Partners,

We are thankful for your continued prayers and support, and we want to say this Thanksgiving season that we have learned 'in everything to give thanks, for this is the will of God.' Our trust in God is strong.

Forlough Ministry – We enjoyed meetings in October and are grateful for the great churches and individuals standing behind our ministry these past years. The Moving Beyond Lecture training was great. We praise the Lord that our 2013 schedule is filling up, and Craig says that we are making our long trips before the snow flies. Please contact nckennedy@abwe.cc for any desired 2013 furlough schedule.

Furlough Schedule:
11/2 -4 Bible Baptist Shiremanstown, PA
11/11 First Baptist Angelica, NY
11/18 Grace Baptist Tonawanda, NY
12/1- Elaine- First Baptist Phoenix
12/2 Grace Baptist Marion, NY
12/9 First Baptist Marathon, NY
1/13 First Baptist Phoenix, NY
1/27 Faith Baptist Baldwinsville, NY

Pray as we travel and for expenses to be covered. Travel expenses for October were $1070.

Delays in Travel—On every weekend, we experienced delays in travel. On the Thruway West, traffic was heavy due to the Boston-Buffalo footfall game. An accident on a major Massachusetts highway delayed us as 'GPS' detoured us around the accident; the hour through small towns on congested streets was such that we thought we were back in Manila. Traffic came to a stand-still on Route 81 in heavy fog, so after a long time, we exited through the Blue Mountains and saw coal mines. Roadwork in Syracuse closed the entrance to the Thruway, so we drove through towns on Route 31-E for an hour before finding an entrance to the Thruway. We praise God for safety in travel and for getting us to our destinations.

Mongolian Family—We visited Khulan after our Taunton, Massachusetts meeting and spent nearly 5 hours with her on the Columbus Day holiday. We reviewed the location of the Baptist church, which is closer to her dorm than she originally thought. Pray for Khulan.

Twin Brook Camillus Farm—Long traveling weekends cuts short our work-week around the farm, but we completed the potato digging and fall plowing and planting of winter rye, as well as another round with the bulldozer to plot out the fence for the back part of the farm. Next job will be pounding in more fence posts. The two Red Angus steers are gaining weight and allowing Craig to touch them.

It's been our desire to use the house and farm for God's glory and for housing visiting pastors and missionaries. On October 15-18, a Filipino couple who are missionaries in Cambodia rested at our house between Sunday ministries. How thankful we were for fellowship with Art and Marylou Bastes!

In Christ,
Craig & Elaine Kennedy

November 30 Update

Dear Prayer Partners,

Merry Christmas! This will be our first Christmas in the States in 13 years and we are missing Philippine friends but not Manila traffic or congested malls. We are also missing our children and grandchildren who live far away and who cannot travel to Camillus for Christmas, but we know that they will be sharing the true meaning of Christmas with people they come in contact. Christmas is less about shopping and more about the true gift—Jesus Christ born as Savior, Immanuel, God with us!

Forlough Ministry – We immensely enjoyed meetings in November and had two successful educational challenges of large group-work (100+) in Sunday school. Over Thanksgiving, Elaine's 85-year-old mom and brother Larry&Treva and nephew Glen& Becky and their six children visited; we had 13 people at our dining table, beds and sleeping bags around the house, plus 2 Labrador retrievers, which were the best-behaved dogs we'd ever seen, as they were and are 'seeing-eye trained dogs'. Both sets of parents and families have supported us these past years, and we are thankful for their confidence in us.

Furlough Schedule:
12/1- Elaine- Ladies at First Baptist Phoenix, NY
12/2 Grace Baptist Marion, NY
12/9 First Baptist Marathon, NY
12/16 Beacon Baptist Clay, NY
1/13 First Baptist Phoenix, NY
1/27 Faith Baptist Baldwinsville, NY

Pray as we travel and as we promote 'Good Soil' in our supporting churches.

Mongolian Family—Khulan will be traveling from UMass back to Manila to her family for Christmas holidays. We praise the Lord that this family now knows the true meaning of Christmas!

Twin Brook Camillus Farm— Corner Fence Posts were pounded into place for the back area of the farm, and we thanked Roger from a neighboring church for his great assistance with some potatoes. When snowflakes fell during Thanksgiving time, Craig decided to put the snow plow on the front of the tractor to measure it up for hoses. Since our only vehicle (pick-up truck) is in a shed a block away from our house, we surely want to be able to get out of our driveway for errands and for meetings! We granted permission to a few hunters on our 47-acres of land…as of now, the deer know how to hide!

How we wish we had a Manger Scene on our front lawn, but there's little time to manage that for this year and probably little time for a tree and lights inside the house, as we are still 'settling in' with unpacking and sorting. Now where are all those Christmas decorations? Perhaps we can find our Christmas lantern from the Philippines!

Thank you for your continued partnership in missions!

In Christ,
The Kennedys
