September 2012 Update
Paul & Elaine Kintner (1965)
“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together” (Psalm 34:3)
Dear faithful prayer partners,
“To God be the glory, great things He has done!” How we rejoice in His goodness to us in allowing us the privilege to serve Him! Paul has just returned from his trip to Peru, thanking the Lord for safe travel, good health, and bountiful blessings received while there.
The occasion for the trip was to preach at the 33rd annual conference of the national mission in Peru, which was held in the church we were privileged to establish in the 1980’s in Lima, Peru. Around 25 Peruvian missionaries from around the country were present, and their reports of souls saved and churches established equaled and or exceeded anything that we American missionaries could accomplish. The mission and conference organization was superb, even to the transmission of many of the services by internet worldwide. Their vision for going forward increases, even to crossing the borders to adjacent countries.
What a blessing to fellowship and minister in the two churches we had developed in Lima in the 1980’s! Many of the young people from those years are now leaders in the churches. Paul was hosted by the pastor and wife who were children in our time at that church. Several couples in the church were young people that grew up in the church and eventually married. One of the young men has a dental practice, and took special time and hours with Paul to do extensive dental work, completing it early Sunday morning before service time. He also spent Saturday afternoon attending to the dental needs of the national missionaries.
Paul preached from III John, “Because for His name’s sake, they went forth…” . The apostle John commends Gaius for his caring for these itinerant evangelists of the final decade of the first century who were passing through, and helping them on their way. What a great missionary challenge to both missionary and sending churches and individuals!
We are humbled by the testimony of these missionaries, and express the sentiments of the Apostle John; “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth” (III Juan 4).
On the home front, the church continues to go forward with their new pastor. September brings the Fall program into activity with groups meeting weekly, such as women’s and men’s meetings, and married couples. The young people are having some special activities now under the leadership of the couple we mentioned in our last letter, and the group is growing. Previously we mentioned our ministry plan to continue with the church until March of 2014, however that has changed and we are planning a “graduation service” for the church on March 10, 2013. We continue with the Bible studies in the local jail, and follow-up with Source of Light correspondence courses.
Thank you for your prayers and support. We rejoice that extra gifts were sent in which covered the entirety of Paul’s ticket for his trip to Peru. God is faithful!
In His service,
Paul and Elaine
