September 2012 Update

Jake & Nancy Schrader  (1976)

Hi Praying Friends

It has turned "blazing hot" here in Welkom. Needless to say Sandy and I are "sweating it." Of course that is not the most hindering kind of sweat, though it does tend to slow a body down. There is another kind of "sweating it" that can cause a person to actually hit the "panic button " and give the devil opportunity. Eph 4:27. Then sad to say we have to admit to ourselves HEADS,YOU LOSE ! Late, the other night I got a phone call. You know, the kind you always dread. It was from our security man. "Pastor, our roof has caved in! Big bang, big trouble!" It was pitch dark and nothing could be done any way as I listened to my very wise wife. So the next day we went out to access the damage. My heart was racing and I expected the worse. Fortunately, it was only one of the roofs of the five buildings. The A-frames had been exposed to the weather for over 6 years. The ends of the A-frames had rotted and the winds had been excessively bad this year. BANG! This huge roof had then collapsed inwardly on the second floor. We panicked, we prayed. Then we panicked again and then prayed again. To be honest, I'm not sure how many times that was repeated. But regardless of how I felt, God kept his part of the bargain.and sent His PEACE WHICH PASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING. Presently, I have that peace and I don't intend to let go of it. God reminded me of some important praises. And some wonderful things have started to happen! Who says He is going to stop now.

HEADS YOU LOSE? Nope, not when we realized it had not caused any damage to the roof over our 364 sq. yard auditorium. Neither had it caused any damage to the roof over our 300 sq. yard Sunday School wing. THANK YOU JESUS!.

HEADS YOU LOSE? No, you will find this hard to believe, but we had received two phone calls before this little catastrophe happened. Some people wanted to purchase....yes, purchase slates off some of our roofs. They wanted to remodel their building and building supply companies had stopped making this type of slate a couple of years ago.. I THINK we can make a deal. PRAY over this matter as the funds could definitely come in handy for future repairs. We don't want this to happen to any more of our roofs.

HEADS YOU LOSE!? Nope, our people have made the best of the situation. A couple of men are helping our security man to clean up the debris. They are also stacking tiles to sell that weren't broken with the collapsed roof. A big plus for our guys is the broken A-frames have provided fuel for heat and cooking at their shanties.

HEADS YOU LOSE? One of our ladies decided to prepare dinner for our church family. This definitely lifted spirits. We supplied the fire wood (there's plenty of that over at Restore). She got up at 2:00 A.M.. Yes, 2:00 A.M. to get the fire going and cook the meal. Yes, HEADS WERE LIFTED HIGH IN PRAISE last Sunday which reminded me of that wonderful "Peace that passes all understanding and I don't intend to lose.

HEADS YOU LOSE? Well, sad to say but sometimes it is necessary. CHECK THE ATTACHMENT. This head and trotters have already been donated and stored in a freezer for our next church celebration. Now don't everybody buy their plane tickets at once. It will probably not be until after next month some time.

Well, I am over the flu, but my lovely lady has taken over where I left off. Our Sunday school teachers have assured her things will be just fine. But please PRAY for Sandy won't you? HEADS YOU LOSE? We have to admit It is often a challenge, but that's where your prayers and faithful giving come in. THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE FOR US WHILE WE ARE OVER HERE FOR YOU !

In His love & service,
Jake and Sandy (Achoo!).
