ALUMNI PRAISE AND PRAYER

September 2012 Update

Sana & Nancy Singh  (1991)

Dear Praying friends,
Praise the Lord for his kindness! Sana was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon. He is recovering well. The surgeon will see him in two weeks and then we can rebook our tickets to return to India. We greatly appreciate your prayers. Please continue to pray for a complete recovery.
Our God is good!

September 13 Update

“Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.” Psalm 145:3

Dear friends,

We praise the Lord for what He has done on behalf of Sana. After the back surgery, he has recovered well and he is now cleared to return to India. “ … The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Our heartfelt “Thank you.” to each one of you for praying for us.
If it were possible, we would like to return today but God has His perfect timing. Sana’s surgery was advanced by 9 days, instead of 8/30 to 8/21. His nephew, John Kerr, who lives in Des Moines, Iowa, with his wife Carrie, came down with severe Pneumonia on 9/6 and was in the hospital for 8days including two day in ICU. We were able to be with him and Sana was well enough to cook some Indian meals for him. John is well now and have started work from last Monday. They never found the reason for the bacteria that caused the Pneumonia. As you can see, God had the right timing even for Sana’s surgery. Thank you to many of you who prayed for John.

We were hoping that we will be able to set a date for our return after Nancy saw her doctor two days back. Further tests are needed and she will see a surgeon next Monday. This is somewhat frustrating to us, but again, we are trusting the Lord to direct and guide us. Please pray with us to help the doctors to give us right advice and wisdom for us. Hopefully, we will be able to set a date after next Monday.

Sana is translating lessons from English to Bengali for a seminar for church associations in Silchar India by visiting speakers from US. After he finishes these, he will go back to checking Bishnupriya translation of the Gospels. He learned from translating the lessons that William Carey had a sister who was paralyzed and bedridden for 50 years, unable to speak for much of that period. She wrote long encouraging letters to her brother. And she prayed for him several hours per day for 50 years. God used her prayers and the father of modern missions changed the history of missions and the face of India 200 years back. Few knew of his sister. Prayer is indeed powerful for God to use as an instrument to accomplish his purposes and goals. Please pray for this seminar for God to work in hearts. It will be in the first week of Oct. Many pastors, church leaders and lay people will attend.
It has become embarrassing for us to write e-mails mostly concerning our health problems. At the same time we greatly appreciate your prayers. Many of you have sent e-mails and some of you have called us to assure us of your prayers. It has been a great encouragement to us. It is such a privilege and blessing to belong to God’s family.

Sincerely in Christ,
Sana and Nancy Singh
