ALUMNI PRAISE AND PRAYER

September 2012 Update

Chris & Donna Sadowitz  (1985)

Dear Prayer Warriors,
As we write this letter we sit between two worlds. Well, it feels like it anyway. We've finished our work, we've delegated responsibilities for our absence, we've said our good byes, we've canceled the utilities, we've made preparations at our destination, we've psyched ourselves up for the 13 hour pan-pacific / over the Arctic flight and . . . Typhoon Number Eleven stalls on the coast of China - right over the Shanghai Pudong Airport - and cancels our flight! With suitcases lined up in our Japanese tatami room and our hearts already in America we anticipated starting our furlough August 8th, but have been bumped to an August 11th departure.
Since Jesus controls the weather we knew that this was of Him and assumed He had something else for us to do in the down time. I can't say for certain what that was or is, and I can't even say that we used this time as He had hoped we would or not, but I can tell you that all seven of us felt like we had the wind taken out of our sails – well, it actually was a case of too much wind! Eventually the reality of an extra three days in Japan hit and we embarked on various paths, including battling colds for all of us, more time with Japanese disciples, and wondering if all of our travel documents were in order.
One benefit of the extra 3 day wait was some time to consider how God had answered our summer prayers of 2012 and how God had answered our summer prayers of 2008.
Way back, in the summer of 2008, we asked the Lord to work through us and He taught us afresh about abiding and letting Him work. We sought the Lord and the seeking turned to finding and the finding to praising and the praising to the joy of fruit-bearing among our Japanese brothers and sisters. Throughout all of our years in Japan we have never seen so much visible fruit as we have in these last four years to the praise of His glory and the joy of all peoples. His grace went before us – I Peter 1:13
This summer we asked the Lord to empower us (this is misnomer as it is His power that works in us as we abide) to finish our course well; and He did not disappoint. We were able to see numerous children call on the Lord in VBS, and see two of our teens, Shota and Asako, get baptized as well. We got to see others grow in their relationship to Jesus, and there were continuing chances to meet and introduce others to Christ. His grace continues to follow us - Titus 2:11-14.
This is the before (2008) and after (2012) of God's great grace to us here in Miyakonojo Japan. We can wholeheartedly agree with the Apostle Paul when he says; “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.” II Cor.9:8
The result has been Jesus Christ preached among the Gentiles for His glory and their great joy.“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. II Cor. 2:14
Questions: So why the extra 3 days? Why the delay? Why did the typhoon park right over our departing airport?
Answer: Grace. “Thank You God for the extra time to reflect on Your great grace.”

PRAISE AND PRAYER
1. Please pray, Rota has still not received his student visa.
2. Praise God for two folks who offered to loan us a van for the year.
3. Please pray for Rota to adjust to Binghamton and Asako to adjust to Akron, OH.
4. Please pray for the salvation of Yukina a 21 year old college student we befriended and shared Christ with. Daniel, our son, worked at her father’s restaurant for a day. This restaurant served eel and July 27th was “eel day.” Daniel worked from 9am to 10pm in a 100 degree room preparing eel dinners for hundreds of customers. It was delicious!!!!
5. Praise God for a godly summer intern -Brekke Pichette - She was a blessing.
6. Please pray for health and safety as we overcome summer flu and travel.
7. Please pray for the continuing follow up of the kids saved at VBS. This is our most urgent need and desire.

Thanks for partnering with us,
Chris & Donna
