ALUMNI PRAISE AND PRAYER
July 2012 Update
Sue Lodico (1983)
Dear Friends and family,
Wow!!!! It is hard to believe I have been in South Africa for four months already. Where has the time gone??
Let me try and fill you in on what has been happening around here. Before I left the states, I found out that the missionary couple I was to work with here had accepted the call from a church in the states to be their Senior Pastor. They left the field two weeks after I arrived. I spent the first three weeks in Richards Bay, which is about two hours north of Dur-ban. While I was there, I learned how to drive on the opposite side of the car and road. That was a challenge but…..I did it!!! One of the South African pastors helped me find a great reliable car (you need that here in South Africa….for safety reasons).
After my three weeks in Richards Bay I moved to Amanzimtoti, which is almost three hours south of Richards Bay. David and Virginia Morris were great hosts and helped me find the right apartment. The Team would not let me move into my apart-ment until there was an alarm system in-stalled. I am so thankful for team members who are looking out for my safety. The apartment that I found had been a holiday flat so it came fully furnished. I moved in on April 20. I am so thankful to God for this apart-ment and it’s location. I am only five minutes away from The Community Connection (the church where I will be ministering)…..and only two blocks from the ocean.
Since the move to Ballito, I have been hanging out with the Youth every Friday night, attending the Ladies Bible Study on Wednesday mornings and getting to know the folks at the Community Connection on Sunday mornings. On Father’s Day, the Community Connection voted to call the ‘Interim Pastor’ (their former Youth Pastor) to be their Senior Pastor….and he accepted the call. I am excited that I will be min-istering with Pastor Paul Esteves.
The first few weeks of July are going to be a very busy ones for me.
*First of all, I join the staff at the Community Connection on July 1.
*July 2-6, is our Holiday Bible Club (VBS). We are expecting about 125 kids to attend. Pray for strength and stamina as I will be teaching the Bi-ble story to six different groups everyday.
*July 9-11 is Junior Camp. I am not sure yet if I am counseling or working as a helper…..but I will be involved somehow. I once again covet your prayers for strength.
Thank you so much for your love, encourage-ment and faithful prayer and financial support over the past few months. May God Bless you for the Kindness you have Shown to Me.
In His service,
Sue Lodico
