ALUMNI PRAISE AND PRAYER
June 2012 Update
Craig & Elaine Kennedy (1971)
Dear Prayer Partners,
We hope you have changed our address to –
5908 Bennetts Corners Road,
Camillus, NY 13031
Vacation—Our summer is more like a work-vacation as we plow and plant a garden, develop a compost pile and a market for products, install fence and buy beef cattle. It's a great way to de-stress from our years of living in a large city with pollution and noise and traffic jams. As we work, we are thinking about our 3 grandchildren, who spent their early years at this place, and we are upholding them before the Throne of Grace as they are living in a large and polluted city and learning a difficult language.
Twin Brook Camillus Farm—We are holed up in a 200-year-old 'post-and-beam' farmhouse that has been in Craig's family for four generations. There's a wood furnace in a partial basement, so we will need to cut firewood, one of Craig's favorite tasks and a skill that his Grandfather Charlie Peterson taught him. Someday, we will need to determine what to do with 'This old House,' but for now, we will obey the biblical junction, "Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house," Proverbs 24:27. It will be nice to sand off 100-years of ground-in dirt in the wood floors of 3 rooms, but I have no idea how we could make the backward L-shaped 1930's kitchen more functional. Of the ten kitchens I've worked in during my life-time, this one is the most challenging.
ABWE Missionary Enrichment Conference—This July 15-19, 2012 M.E. Conference will be held again in Baltimore, MD near the airport area, and we are expected to be there for 5 minutes of honor.
Family—We enjoyed being with our 5 grandchildren (two children and their spouses) this past April and May. We don't know when we will see them again, as J&N are in East Asia, and Joyce and family are in California. We attended Elaine's mother's Landis Family reunion on June 3rd.
Furlough—We will participate in a VBS on July 13 in a church in our area, then will begin traveling for furlough after the Autumn Harvest at Twin Brook Camillus Farm. The beef cattle are grass-fed so do not need daily attention, so… Please share with us if you'd like us to be at your mission's conference. We will plan weekend furlough visits to supporting churches with our farm pick-up truck, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2012-2013 as we report on the many blessings of God these past years.
Thank you for your continued partnership in missions in Asia!
In Christ,
Craig and Elaine Kennedy
