ALUMNI PRAISE AND PRAYER
July 2010 Update
Ed & Dorothy Woods (1971)
Dear Praying Friends: July-August 2010
Below are some quick news notes to share before we pack up the copy machine for our
move. We value your faithful prayer support, your interest, your special gifts and cards,
and your encouragement. Thanks!
Family: In a few short weeks we will be grandparents again. Jon and Rebecca are
expecting a son in early August. He will join Brendan (2) and Tyler, who is still in our
hearts but now in heaven. David will return to the war zone again this fall, leaving his
good wife, Laura, in Colorado Springs. Deborah just completed her 10th year of special
education teaching and is enjoying the summer with Tonio (3), while Geovanny is
experiencing various job challenges. Ed is recovering well and speedily from bypass
surgery, for which we praise God, who has answered your prayers on his behalf.
Dorothy is struggling with knee issues which are painful but not life-threatening. God
has been so good! He always is...no matter the circumstances.
Friends: Lord willing, we arrive in New York Aug. 2 and leave in Minneapolis a host of
great friends whom we will dearly miss. Our lives have been enriched and our friends
and students have become family. Praise God for His working in bringing some to
Himself during our ministry in the Twin Cities.
Recently we were privileged to conduct an ESL training workshop to equip five more for
Great Commission ministry via ESL. One couple is returning to Sweden and is planning
to launch an ESL outreach. Next week we're scheduled to have a mini-workshop for 8
college students who are here for a month of ministry.
Finances: The cost of moving is great, so we appreciate your prayers and any help
you might be able to give. (Gifts may be sent to CBM at the address below). The
economic downturn has affected some of our long-time supporting churches, and some
have had to cut back or drop our support completely, leaving us with about 70% of our
required support. Thus we will need to go on deputation again. Praise God for those
who have been able to remain faithful despite fiscal challenges. "God always pays for
what He orders;" so our confidence is in Him.
Future: The months ahead include (1) getting settled in the Ithaca, NY area, starting
our ministry there, and conducting more training workshops; (2) going on deputation
and reporting to some of our supporters; (3) growing in the Lord and the knowledge of
His Word, and (4) getting acquainted with our new grandson.
Our new address is listed above. When we have a new phone number, we'll let you
know. Please pray for safety and a smooth transition to our new ministry location.
In His service,
