AWARDS - Alumnus/Alumnae of the Year

Each year, one individual is awarded the Alumnus of the Year Award. BBC&S alumni nominate individuals during the spring. The Alumni Association Council selects the award winner.

Candidates must have:

  • Received a degree from Baptist Bible College, Graduate School, or Seminary.
  • Completed at least 10 years of faithful and profitable Christian service in their profession.
  • Rendered distinguished service to Baptist Bible College & Seminary, its programs, and/or its students or graduates.
  • Cultivated an evident pursuit of Christ-centered thinking and daily lifestyle that honors Him.
  • Hold an evident dedication to developing the life of Christ in others.

Below are previous Alumnus of the Year recipients.

2011 – Dr. Paul Plew (‘70)
A passion for worship, exemplified by a desire to pair the great truths of scripture with great music, has been a mark of Dr. Paul Plew’s live of service and leadership. Chairman of the Music Department and Director of Choral Activities at The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, CA, since 1979, Paul earned a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree from BBC in 1970. He also earned a Master of Music from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, and a Doctor of Education degree with Music specialization from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. As an educator, Paul’s classroom emphasis includes conducting, church music-related classes, and chorale music. He currently conducts the Collegiate Singers, a 130-voice campus choir; The Master’s Chorale, a 60-person choir; and Majesty, a small contemporary directions ensemble. He and the groups have served on missions trips in England, Ireland, Russia, Canada, Italy, Israel, Germany, Spain and virtually every state.
