Testing and Certification

In order to become certified to teach in Pennsylvania public schools and Christian schools, students must meet the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

 

Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA)
Beginning April 2, 2012, the PAPA is required for all undergraduate Teacher Candidates.

PA Testing Requirements

Pennsylvania Educator Certification Tests (PECT)
Information for the new PreK-4th grade Early Childhood and Elementary Education program. Preparation materials, including study guides and full-length practice tests can be accessed on the PECT website.

Pennsylvania Instructional I Certificate Application Process - Upon the successful completion of a Teacher Education program and the passing of all required Praxis tests, students must apply to receive the Instructional I Certificate.

Applicants prepared at BBC and in Pennsylvania must receive certification in Pennsylvania initially. Certification can then be transferred to another state by contacting that state's Department of Education and meeting any additional requirements.
